Interns from Los Angeles County Youth Jobs Program in Senator Ed Hernandez’s Office

Tarleen and Genesis are two young ladies who participated in the Los Angeles County Youth Jobs Program Internship (LACYJ) out of the thousands of youth that have been a part of this program. These two youth had the opportunity to be placed as interns in the office of Senator Ed Hernandez and not only did they gain experience, but they participated in an impactful way.

Senator Hernandez and his staff hosted the 2017 Women of Achievement Awards for the 22nd Senate District on Friday, March 24, 2017. This event paid recognition to women in the 22nd District who have made a difference in the lives of others and who have contributed in a significant way to their community. It paid tribute to women of the San Gabriel Valley who have demonstrated leadership and valor in their efforts to balance family, work, and activism. At this event, Tarleen not only had top opportunity to introduce the Senator, but she also handed out awards and provided major support for the event.

Through the LACYJ program, these youth had the opportunity to be exposed to the world of government and opportunity to experience the inner working of government and politics. Their time at the Senator’s office may even create a desire for a career in government or even a desire to run for office!
