Senator Scott Wilk Visits Center

On August 8th, WDACS Antelope Valley Senior Center (AVSC) hosted the very personable State Senator Scott Wilk (R-Antelope Valley) representative of the 21stSenate District.  He dropped by to become more familiar with the Center’s operations, participants and staff.  He toured the Center’s lunch program, computer lab, art class, billiards room, fitness center and library.  He also touched base with the Los Angeles County Military and Veterans Affairs Department staff who provide excellent counseling and benefit assistance to veterans every Tuesday at the Center.   Senator Scott was well informed and engaging, charming everyone he met with his sincere interest and concern about their well-being.  In one of the photos you see Senator Wilk speaking with Mr. Benjamin Black  who is 93 years young. Senator Wilk was accompanied by his staff members Rick Cook, District Director and Donna Hill, Field Representative, and he advised his staff whose office is located near the AVSC, would be available to assist participants with any State related issues of concern.  Participants enjoyed meeting him and appreciated his interest in older adult educational and recreational services.  He also mentioned that his office would be very interested in doing a lively interactive workshop to assist participants in connecting with the State Controller’s unclaimed property program. Senator Wilk represents diverse communities in the Antelope, Santa Clarita and Victor Valleys, ranging from Santa Clarita to Victorville/Hesperia.  He currently serves as Vice-Chair of the State Senate’s Education and Agriculture Committees.
