Los Nietos Community and Senior Service Center is a multi-purpose facility designed to enhance the community with a range of educational, social and recreational activities. Center staff network with other County departments and non-profit agencies to provide comprehensive information and referrals, form completion assistance, and translation services. The following programs and services offered at the center include but not limited to: form completion assistance, translation services, food bank, resource fairs, community forums, flu shot clinic and assistance in reporting elder abuse.


  • Also known as the Pantry Program, provides food to low-income families, individuals and seniors, residing in zip codes 90605 and 90606. The Center accepts food donations from individuals and organizations. The pantry operates on Thursdays, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and Fridays, 9:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Emergency food distribution is available during regular center hours.

  • Pet food distribution for seniors only 55+. Two bags per month. Tuesdays 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

  • Exercise equipment available for public use Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Occasionally closed due to Center Programming)

  • Morning coffee, games, movie day, educational presentations, community forums birthday and holiday celebrations. Times and dates vary. Please call the center for more information.

  • A program which provides an assortment of age and socially appropriate toys, games and books to children. The program has a code of conduct and incentive plan. Children may borrow toys once a week and are rewarded for returning toys in good condition and on time and for continuing their membership. Membership is free and requires a parent or guardian to register the child in the program. Donations of new and near new toys and books are accepted. Wednesdays 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

  • Get out and get healthy while walk with a group of your peers. Tips on best practices and staying motivated.  Wednesdays 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. 

    CalFresh Application Assistance – The CalFresh Nutrition program cares and encourages all families to eat a healthy diet and be physically active.  Improving what you eat and being active will help to reduce the risk of chronic diseases.  For eligibility requirements a case worker is available.  Every other Friday of the month from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  Please call the Center for dates land time.

  • Legal services for seniors 60+. Call for dates and appointments (562) 699-9898.

  • Provides nutritious hot lunches to senior citizens. Monday through Friday 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. For questions or to reserve your lunch call (562) 699-9873.

  • Forum for residents to learn how to work with the County, to help improve the quality of life in your community. Meeting is on the 3rd Thursday of every other month 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

  • Supportive employment, self-advocacy, and cooking group meeting for adults with disabilities. Wednesdays 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and on the 3rd Monday of each month 10:0 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (562) 946-0467.

  • Cooking classes for individuals with developmental disabilities. Fridays 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (323) 253-7570.

  • Parenting and Nutrition classes for parents of foster and kinship children and youth Tuesdays 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (562) 908-3435.

  • Ballet Folklorico dance class for all ages. Wednesdays 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. (562) 260-1260.

  • Aztec dance and cultural activities for all ages. Mondays and Thursdays 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. (562) 641-1047.


  • Designing Aztec regalias and cultural presentations for all ages. Wednesdays 6:00 p.m. -8:30 p.m. (562) 686-1091.

  • The Los Nietos Aerobics class is run by community volunteers. These volunteers lead participants in hour long routines that include weights, steps, kickboxing, and dance. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

  • Senior crochet group. Thursdays 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

  • Senior social group. Each month there is a club meeting followed by lunch and a dance. Club meets the 4th Sunday of each month 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. (951) 566-4069.
