Saturday at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Downtown LA, was exactly as you would expect a tech expo to be. Self-driving taxis? Check. Virtual Reality demonstrations? Check. A robotic puppy? Check.
What stood out was the audience: it is the only tech conference in the region that is specifically designed to connect family caregivers, older adults, and aging influencers with the ecosystem of tech solutions that can help our older adult population age well and in place.
TED Talk speaker and acclaimed author Ashton Applewhite delivered the keynote presentation to conference goers interested in an educational environment where older adults can explore and learn about technological solutions that can be integrated into their daily lives. Edward Saxon, an Academy Award winning producer, focused his closing keynote address on how we can use storytelling to help older adults embrace technology and innovation.
More than 50 exhibitors featured product demonstrations, mini workshops and hands-on learning opportunities that were specifically designed for older adult consumers. Conference goers had a unique opportunity to “co-create” with tech developers and entrepreneurs for various startups on the newest tech solutions by providing feedback and testing products on the spot.
