Antelope Valley Senior Center is designed to provide an array of educational, social, and recreational activities to persons 50 years and older. Working with other County Departments and community based organizations AVSC provides informative educational forums, recreational fun day trips, exercise, Tai Chi, art, quilting, arts & crafts, needlepoint, bingo, library services, card games (canasta, bid whist), billiards, diabetes class, nutrition classes, computer lab, computer classes and singing. Antelope Valley Senior Center also provides food bank distribution to income-qualifying seniors over 60, and telephone reassurance calls to the homebound. Adult protective and mental health services and programs as well as other social services, recreational activities, and evening programs (dance groups, computer and photography clubs) are all part of the center’s activities.
Suddenly there is a whole new world to explore and experience. Just by passing the milestone of being 50 years or older you can improve your mind, enliven your body and lift your spirits. Haven’t you ever wanted to travel, dance, sing, quilt, play games, join a fitness center or create works of art? It’s all here at your fingertips. Meet new friends, discuss current events, eat a meal, attend a presentation or special celebration, or teach a class.
