CORE Invests in LA County Youth

By May 1, 2019WDACS News

Everyone deserves a fair chance at employment and career development. Whether it is through work experience, education, training, or apprenticeships, WDACS provides opportunities for LA County residents to develop their skills that will lead them toward their dream career. One of these avenues is the Creating Opportunities and Real Experiences (CORE) Internship Program.

The CORE Internship Program was created to support and develop more effective career pathways for current or former justice involved youth or youth whose parents were system involved. The program was built with private employers in mind to address and dissolve stigmas of hiring those that have been or are justice involved.

Through CORE, youth are provided paid work experience and valuable employment skills via mentors from companies such as Netflix or AEG. The current cohort of 20 youth are set to finish their internship on May 31st with a completion ceremony to follow soon after. For more information on CORE and other workforce programs and services provided by WDACS, please visit our Workforce website here
