WDACS and the County Investing Finances and Resources to Improve Lives in East Los Angeles
On Saturday, March 16, 2019 our Centro Maravilla Service Center hosted its Annual Community Wellness Fair. The Fair provides an opportunity for residents in East Los Angeles and surrounding areas to get comprehensive health information to live a happier and healthier lifestyle.
More than 15 community partners provided beneficial health information, demonstrations on healthy cooking, and screenings for osteoporosis, blood pressure, glucose and more to the 150 local residents in attendance. Additionally, attendees received giveaways including free healthy lunches and cooking samples.
As part of the continued efforts to improve the lives of residents in East Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved nearly $1,000,000 for the revitalization of the Centro Maravilla Service Center, which includes the creation of a new Entrepreneur Center that will provide economic and community development programming. This project will also lead to a partnership-driven model to support local small businesses.
Our Department will continue to collaborate with local community and business partners to assist small businesses in growing their business and provide high quality services to East LA residents.
